Our admission criteria
Whether you’re applying as a domesticor international student, you will need to:
- meet the admissions requirements in the programs and courses catalogue
- provide evidence of your English language proficiency
Undergraduate study
Your qualifications must meet the university’s minimum admission requirementsfor:
- senior secondary or post-secondary school qualifications (vocational education and training, associate diplomas or degrees or an approved tertiary preparation course), or
- tertiary qualifications in Australia or overseas (one standard full-time year of study in a degree program at another Australian or international higher education institution).
Postgraduate study
You will need to have:
- an ANU-approved bachelor’s degree, or
- another qualification recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework.

The Australian National University’smain campus is in the Canberra suburb of Acton, just 10 minutes’ walk from thecity centre.
As well as modern lecture halls,laboratories, several libraries and a range of student residences, the campus providesjust about everything you’ll need during your studies, including cafes, bars,child care, gyms, medical services and supermarkets.
It is also beautiful and sustainable.Dotted with 10,000 trees, a creek and several park-like avenues, the campussits at the base of Black Mountain and the Australian National Botanic Gardenson the land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples.
