Sunway University

International students applying for undergraduate study at Sunway must have qualifications equivalent to the Malaysian Higher School Certificate known as Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM). The methods used by the University to determine the overall grade of several pre-university qualifications are as follows:

A-Level

The A-Level is a secondary school leaving qualification in the United Kingdom (UK) and commonly offered as an international qualification outside the UK. Students’ best three grades achieved in their A- Level qualification would be assigned specific points and summated to arrive at a score that would be considered for admission.

International Baccalaureate

If students’ total points on the International Baccalaureate, excluding bonus points, exceed the stated requirements, they would then qualify for admission. Students also need to present proof of successful completion of a diploma.

Graduate Study

For admission to a graduate study programme at Sunway, international students should have completed a relevant bachelor’s or honours degree, as appropriate, with the required grade point average. Students whose first language is not English must also provide proof of proficiency in the English language, with an IELTS score of at least 6.0 or an equivalent score on the TOEFL. In some cases, a portfolio or any other proof of further work done may also be required.

Occupying 22 acres of prime land in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur, the city campus is fully equipped with academic, hostel and sporting facilities and is amongst the largest and most modern private institutions in Malaysia.

The campus comes complete with wireless internet connectivity (Wi-Fi) available 24-hours per day covering classrooms, lecture halls, cafeteria, library, concourse and open areas which makes it conducive for student learning, discussions, communication and project work.

The Sunway Campus library is ISO 9001:2015 certified. It is one of the largest University libraries in Malaysian private educational institutions. Equipped with the latest library technology, the library is linked to international e-databases and thousands of e-journals, allowing our students access to a global wealth of knowledge.

The spacious 72,000 square feet of floor space in the library provides a variety of learning spaces including:

• Individual ad collaborative learning spaces;
• Viewing Zone (for video content);
• Group Project Pods (for group studies and discussions);
• Training Rooms;
• Instructional Lab;
• Information Technology facilities.

Library users have access to the Extended Hour Study Area which opens until 2.00AM daily. The Sunway Campus library is a library with an ever-expanding collection of books, e-Journals, online e-databases and audio-visual materials to support the teaching, learning and research efforts of the academic community at Sunway.

The University campus is patrolled round-the -clock by security personnel who have been accorded auxiliary police status.

Student life

Student LIFE department provides a supportive and friendly, yet challenging environment outside of the classroom for academic success and individual development of the students. There are multiple opportunities available for leadership development, skill enhancement, social interaction, character building and community service activities.

Student LIFE also offers a range of support services such as counseling and wellness to help students meet some of the challenges they may experience as a university student.
